Missouri GIS Advisory Committee
Local Government Sub-committee Meeting overview
Meeting began at 1:20 PM
In attendance: Jim LaScala, Dawn Hildebrand, Greg, Resz, Steve Marsh, Gary Mook, Mark Duewell, Tim Haithcoat, Jeff Haney
Jim pointed out that the LGG should have a united voice on big issues, such as the two pieces of legislation that are currently being considered. Others pointed out that that is exactly what had happened, and that it was the first time in a while that there had been some real substantive discussion at the meetings in some time.
Mark pointed out that there was still the LG survey that this group had asked MSDIS to coordinate. He felt it was a successful survey and that we should review it before moving forward.
Greg and Jim both suggested that the group develop and maintain a list of contacts in the state for LG GIS professionals. Tim pointed out that MSDIS has several such a lists but that depending on the contact method, (email, phone, or mail) the lists may or may not be helpful. Also pointed out was that we should get the list of conference attendees and use that as part of the list.
A topic of some length was that the LGG needed to have a presence at the larger MGISAC site. Currently there is not content. The following items were discussed as potential content items. Members and contact info, Minutes of the meetings, current topics of note for LG folks, Meeting dates and times, Links to other sites, Legislation of interest/links, and links to potential grant info.
An agenda item for the next meeting will be not only the development of a mission statement, but also a list of concrete, measurable tasks.
The next meeting will be April 14, 2005 at the Conservation department Credit Union conference room
