Call to Order
Meeting called to order at 11:04 a.m.
Greg R: Have not had much time to devote to subcommittee affairs. Found a few how-to links. Companies may be absorbed in Katrina flights for some time. Not sure how I am still co-chair.
Mark D: You are a City representative; Steve [Marsh] is a County representative—a very good makeup.
Greg R: Don't have an agenda. Talk about the Local Government web page on the MSDIS web site?
Mark D: Look at http://msdisweb.missouri.edu/msdis_lgov/.
Discussed uploading data from Local Governments and getting it to the National Map. Mark D happy to burn CDs of LG data to send to the USGS. Discussed metadata requirements for the National Map.
Terry L: How does data appear on MSDIS and the National Map?
Raw data is on MSDIS; display data on the National Map.
Jim L: I don't need metadata for my own use and do not have the staff/money/time to create metadata.
Mark D: What do you do when you want data for areas adjacent to Liberty?
Mark D: I can put "interns wanted" on the MSDIS web site jobs page.
More metadata discussion.
Gary M: "Ten reasons not to sell your GIS data" document.
Mark D: Please send that document to me.
Jim L: Efforts in Kansas City Metro area. MARC will probably fly photos; two-state coordination difficult.
Discussion of GASPE work.
Mark D: Want to get a very good representation from local government for next MAGIC symposium. Have quite a bit of participation from MACOG and RPCs. "GIS and Public Service". Please submit an abstract yourself or from one of your staff.
