Missouri GIS Conference 2007 Awards

The Missouri GIS Advisory Committee (MGISAC) is calling for nominations of agencies, companies, organizations, or individuals for contributions made in the advancement of the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the State of Missouri.

Awards will be presented at the Missouri GIS Conference in February 2007.

Outstanding Contribution to GIS

IMPORTANT: This nomination will close December 1st, 2006. Submit your nomination electronically now using the Missouri GIS Conference 2007 Awards Nomination Form.

Nominees will have demonstrated outstanding contributions to GIS benefitting Missourians during the past two years. Contributions may have been through education, technical advancements, service, coordination or leadership. Nominees may be individuals, groups or entities. The award is given at the beginning of the Missouri GIS Conference and voted on by the awards subcommittee. Nominators should clearly outline the nature of the contribution being nominated.

Examples of nominees include:

  • Local, State, Regional, Tribal, or National GIS coordinating bodies
  • Agency and inter-agency coordinating groups
  • Clearinghouses
  • E-Gov websites utilizing GIS
  • Any GIS organization providing excellent customer service
  • K-12 Schools
  • Colleges and Universities
  • Continuing Education
  • Private education organizations
  • In-house education efforts
  • Individuals performing GIS tasks or projects that significantly impact Missourians
  • Project Teams performing GIS tasks or projects that significantly impact Missourians.

Nominee is ineligible if they received an award at either the 2005 MOGIS Conference or 2006 MAGIC Symposium.

Outstanding Presentation

Given at the end of the conference to the outstanding presentation as voted on by conference attendees.

Outstanding Poster

Given at the end of the conference to the outstanding poster as voted on by conference attendees.

Outstanding Student Poster

(if student posters are submitted)
Given at the end of the conference to the outstanding student poster as voted on by conference attendees. Student posters will be grouped and clearly marked and identified as eligible for the "Student Poster Award" by the Awards Subcommittee.
