GIS Events in Missouri
The geospatial industry acquires, integrates, manages, analyzes, maps, distributes, and uses geographic, temporal and spatial information and knowledge. The industry includes basic and applied research, technology development, education, and applications to address the planning, decision-making, and operational needs of people and organizations of all types.
To maximize benefits, it is important that all geographic information use identical standards that will allow one subject matter to be overlaid with another. It is also important that the information be made available to interested parties as a state asset to be shared. As an ongoing effort, the objective is to set standards, build on the geographic information base, make the information available and advertise its existence.
The specific tactic to accomplish the objective is through formation of a task force consisting of both information technology staff and other interested persons representing various state agencies. Their purpose is to set standards, make the information available, and advertise the existence of the information.

This is very important information for local governments in the west half of Missouri! - MSDIS Update & Redesign A follow-on project to MSDIS' recent efforts to update hardware, software and provide for off-site backups in Kansas - This project is will provide a number of improved user interfaces and enhanced access to data for our users. We have listened to the comments we have received from users at workshops, conferences, regional strategic planning meetings and via our web comments asking for improvements in data access - less requirement for data manipulation before use, fewer clicks on the mouse, better visualization and access to metadata and the streamlining of the site. We estimate the project will take approximately 9 months because additional software purchases and build-outs are required to accomplish these objectives. A planning retreat was held on January 28th to discuss the possible issues and resolutions - several additional informal meetings have occurred since then to discuss particular requirements. The MSDIS retreat agenda is attached: MSDIS retreat agenda.
