GIS Data Policy—Tim Haithcoat/Jim LaScala
Scheduling a meeting for late July or mid-August. If you have policy colleagues make sure they know about and can attend meeting.
GIS Training—Tom Stokes
No report. Question from Jeff S about potential overlap between E&O and T&C subcommittees. Jim L responds that E&O has an outward focus while T&C has a professional focus. Tom S adds that Gerry W is interested in training for individuals similar to the Project Management Institute approach. Request for feedback to Gerry W on the topic. Discussion about URISA "self" certification. Comment from Tim H that there is no mandate for certification, but skills updates and continuing education is a carrot to promote it. Jeff S suggests a code of ethics development rather than certification. David D comments that the System Administrators Guild went through the exact same dilemma a few years ago and did develop a certification process.
GIT Architecture—Tim Haithcoat
Having trouble coordinating schedules. No GIT meeting; handling in email instead using flags (review, action, vote) in Subject line.
Homeland Security—Tony Spicci
Met, only three attendees. No formal agenda put forth. Invited everyone to next meeting on the third Friday, 10 a.m. at the MDC Central Office Complex, Lower Osage conference room. Tim H: group reviewed Homeland Security expense language that NSGIC forwarded to Dep't of HS, also through NASCIO.
Local Government—Steve Marsh, Gary Mook
Not much in the last month, met after June MGISAC meeting to discuss how and where to meet. Decided to hold several regional meetings. Also trying to find time at MMA conference for a meeting. Moving forward ever so slowly. Jump in survey responses after Missouri Digital Government Summit. Jim L: St. Clair county did not realize there was so much data available. Requested CD of Henry county data. Nominations—Tom Stokes Gerry W approved entire list of nominees for 2004-2006. One more nomination came in after July 1st and is in the process of being approved. Nominations for officers is open through the end of July. Sample ballot will be sent out. Chair and Vice-chair must be state members. Will have absentee ballot.
Strategic Planning—Tony Spicci
All should have received near final report of work plan. Please review and return edits ASAP to Tony. Should be starting 2004 work now. Please begin at August meeting. If you are a subcommittee chair, you should begin reviewing the strategic plan and begin work. Steve M: suggestion to rework strategic plan to more closely match subcommitte structure. Jeff S suggestion to have strategic plan subcommittee meeting after August elections.
