Nominations

Request for nominations subcommittee members and chair. Mark Duewell—Chair, Arnold Williams, Gary Mook. Officer nominations open through the end of July. Ballot will be available August 1 for absentee voters, who may vote until August 9.

State GIO Report—Ryan Lanclos

ESRI License Agreement Update: Non-state entities qualify for enterprise license pricing if funding is greater than 50% from the state. State Agency GIS Forum is basically a staff meeting for the GIO and state GIS staff. MOMAP is installed and running for agencies. DOQQ RFI draft is closed and will hopefully go out tomorrow. Spread the word. Responses must be received by August 4. You can still volunteer for the Cadastral Standard workgroup. The Governor's Homeland Security Advisory Committee asked for another GIS update; no date yet. NOAA/NGS "Creating an Accurate GIS" presentation a possibility. NSGIC dues for Missouri being paid out of GIO office.

Possibility of last-minute money from USGS; proposals submitted, but availability unclear.

Homeland Security/Emergency Management—Tim Haithcoat

waiting for direction. Working on small projects. Will act on HSAC briefing request. Highway Patrol tower mapping project.

Local Government Group—Steve Marsh/Greg Resz

Steve M: regional workshops. Curtis has not responded with a location for the August workshop. Meeting today to decide what to do.

Outreach & Education—Mark Duewell/David Drum/Jim LaScala

Mark D: Missouri GIS Conference 2007 (MOGIS07) planning/meetings/emails. Updated annual report draft. MMA conference coming up, booth will be there. Jim L: final day of MMA coincides with our August meeting; should we try to meet there after the conference ends? Gary M: also coincides with ESRI User Conference. Informal show of hands of who is attending the ESRI UC and who could attend a meeting after MMA at the Lake. Discussion. Motion from Tony Spicci to move the August meeting to the MMA conference location if a room is available. Seconded by Steve Marsh. Approved by vote. Tim H: surveyors meeting coming up. Mark D: just got information and will contact committee members. Jim L may attend.

Strategic Planning—Pam Kelrick

Meeting today here after lunch. Annual report contributions needed from subcommittee chairs. Will begin updating the strategic plan.

Liaison Reports

GIT Architecture (MAEA)—Tim Haithcoat

Cadastral standard: pulled Arkansas standard apart. DNR and State Tax Commission are participating on accuracy. Parcel ID number introduction/migration issue. Cookbook for beginning parcel mapping. Hoping to create some funding mechanisms. Social Services/Mental Health Children's database/data warehouse input. Compare Oracle, DB2, MS SQL in a FIT matrix. Deadline end of July.

Policy & Legislation—Tony Spicci

Nothing at the State level made it through. Nothing at the Federal level. Federal Flood Plain Advisory Committee may include a GIS person in the future.

MSDIS Activites—Mark Duewell

MSDIS has a new work plan—take a look at it. MSDIS has no formal backup. Q4 report in process. New RPC layer available. Web site updates. CAP training in Springfield; classes are filling up. Central region taining next week for 20 people. Training in Trenton, Kirksville following. USGS proposals done quickly and off-the-cuff. Money may not appear. First proposal for off-state backup; second to update training facilities, including mapping-grade GPS units. Clearinghouse conference coming up in Arkansas. MSDIS can back up small amounts of local government data on a space-available basis. Discussion.

Missouri GIS Conference

Tony S: introduced Jamie Schieber. Preliminary schedule handout. Review of handout. Budget, conference fees next month. Fees will probably go up to $125-$150. Theme discussion and vote. Conference committee meeting August 2 or 3. Walk-through of Tan-Tar-A on November 1.

Programs—Steve Marsh

Have many session ideas; sent out some feelers; have some tentative agreements. Looking for federal and state contacts to assist with finding sessions. Jeff S volunteered and also volunteered Ray F.

Plenary–Ryan Lanclos

Working on speakers and topics.

Workshops—David Drum/Mark Duewell

Mark D: planning around expectation of having two rooms available through the whole conference. Possibility of adding non-computer lab workshops on Monday or Thursday. List of possible workshop topics. Need instructors for these topics. Nathan M: computer setup issues; possibility of setting up the night before.

Exhibits—Jim LaScala

Had 23 exhibitors and 5 non-profits in 2005; probably about the same in 2007. Rates were $600; same this time? Exhibitor Reception Night mechanics. Discussion and informal vote. Decision: cost: $700 with 2 free registrations. Tool Time an extra $50. Discussion morphed into social considerations of vendors.

Social—Melissa Lanclos

Overview of social activities and ideas being considered for Tuesday night. Discussion. Jim L will formulate options and send by Monday and needs a response within a day or two. Overview of Monday night wine social.

Posters—Arnold Williams

Have not done anything. Getting with Liz Cook.

Awards—Mark Duewell

Not much done yet. Continuing what's been done at MOGIS and MAGIC in the past.

Waiting for theme (which was just decided). Postcard in August.

MAGIC Symposium Committee

Tony S: I am the next Symposium chair. Next meeting July 27 at the Discovery Center. Quick review of recent activities and changes. Discussion about MAGIC Symposium 2008.

NSGIC—Tony Spicci

Imagery for the Nation continues to grow, is gaining more traction. Survey period ending. Made center page of ESRI ArcNews. 80% positive comments, 19% neutral, 1% negative. Pushing USGS and Agriculture to lead. Agriculture may perform ROI study. FY08 or FY09. Two more "for the Nation" projects being discussed, but not public yet. Federal Geospatial Lines of Business continuing, not public. FGDC wants to fund all 50 states in the Fifty States Initiative. May get to 20 states next year. Homeland Security a vexing puzzle; next series of grants coming. Want Feds to spend money on data states can have. Fusion centers coming through HS to bring together all law enforcement and HS. MIAC is our fusion center for the state; others for Saint Louis and Kansas City. NSGIC conference coming up soon in October in Little Rock, Arkansas. Conference travel grants are on the web site.

Round Table Discussion—all

Jim L: New CAD/GIS user group in Kansas City area.
Tony S: MDC completed round 1 of integrated data framework. Next round is business intelligence and process mapping.
Surdex: Surdex has a second digital camera.
Steve M: Local Government meeting over lunch.
Steve M: Kansas City working on MOU's so that locals can contribute data to MARC.
Arnold W: Thanks for critiquing the new state map. Should be out in November.
Melissa L: Thanks for the recent help from some of you (you know who you are).
Pam K: Training coming up in Kirksville in late August; a few seats are left.
Pam K: Strategic Planning meeting here after lunch.
